Analysis Paralysis is Dangerous to Your Goal

Are you stuck in your analysis of your goal plan .This is one of the commonest freezing point encountered when embarking on your goal plan. You have to be careful about overly analyzing and detailing of your goal plan. This can work against your realizing your goals.

When I started my business, every stage, every issue was taking a lot of my time. I had this idea that I should understand every detail before taking any action and that every stage must be perfected before attending to any other issue relating to my goal plan.

I would research, ask questions and spend so much time analyzing, putting on hold every other issue on my goal plan. The stress was getting on me and even demoralizing especially when I don’t get exactly what I really wanted and faced with the ever increasing list of ‘things to do’ and ‘things you must know’ . This has the potential of knocking someone out of balance and causing you to give up on your goal.

There is something Tricky about This Tendency:
1.There is this illusion that there is enough time to  attend to other issues involved in your goal plan, but you find out that you are trapped in this vicious circle. You are ever discovering more details.

2.A fear that if you don’t get all details clear and perfect at the onset you will mess things up and will loose out.

3.There is this impression that the overall success of your goal plan depends on your perfecting on every detail.

4.The wrong idea that every issue involved in your goal plan must advance at the same pace. The impression that all aspects of your goal plan are equally dependent, that is, the growth in one area is dependent on the growth in another.

5.Inability to take definite actions because you are trapped in an analysis hole.

Some Facts you got to Know:

1. No organization really started perfect.

2. The business that appears perfect and inspiring to you now did not get to that position overnight. It took a process. A process running into months and years.

3. It wouldn’t have gotten to this admirable position if its owner waited for every detail of the goal plan to be perfect before moving on and doing other things.

4. If the owner had spent so much time perfecting, analyzing and detailing at beginning of the business, he/she would have become overwhelmed with details and given up on the goal.

5. He/she got this far by  doing something about every issue involved in the goal plan bit by bit.

6. Excessive analysis of goal plan gets you taking so little actions while thinking and analyzing too much.

7. Giving too much time for brainstorming at the expense of other important requirements of your goal plan is an example of poor time management.

8. Acquisition and application of knowledge are in stages. Time and energy are applied. Trying to fast tract the process can be stressful, unproductive and can backfire.

9. Taking decisions and actions based on information at hand doesn’t mean that you are no more improving on that area.
